The Art of the Hand-Engraved Line
What sets a Modern Heirloom® piece apart is the soul found in the hand-engraved line. Unlike machine-made jewelry, every leaf, scroll, and floral motif is cut into the metal by hand. This technique, rooted in ancient traditions, ensures that no two pieces are ever identical. Our love of crafting jewelry with a turn of the century style was inspired by Kathryn’s Grandmother’s ring. One of our earliest ring in the series was titled “Esther’s Garden” in her honor. I so enjoy that as people look in the case, we often hear our creations remind them of Their grandmother too:) . The nostalgia of family and special moments is created and captured within each Modern Heirloom® .
Our commitment to quality extends to every facet of our work, from the initial sketch to the final polish. We utilize time-honored tools—gravers, burnishers, and loupes—to ensure that the intricate details of our floral and scrollwork designs are sharp and enduring. This level of detail is why our clients often describe our work as “wearable art.”

Our process begins with a vision—often inspired by classical mythology, the sanctuary of a garden, or the rhythmic beauty of the natural world. From there, we select the finest metals and ethically sourced gemstones to bring that vision to life. Whether we are creating a bespoke engagement ring or restoring a family treasure, our goal is to create jewelry that tells a unique story.
In addition to our custom work, we believe in supporting the broader community of artisans. We often look to resources like the Gemological Institute of America (GIA) where Kathryn recieved her training in Diamonds , to stay updated on the latest standards in gemstone grading and ethical sourcing, ensuring our clients receive only the best materials available.
